The 9IKC Conference Dinner

The 9IKC conference dinner starts with a reception on Friday, 15 August 2008, at 19.30 hrs at the Bockenheimer Depot. This event is sponsored by De Beers Group, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Bockenheimer Depot is situated close to the Campus Bockenheim where the registration and icebreaker party took place on Sunday 10 August 2008. You can get to the Bockenheimer Depot by tram no. 16 or the subway lines U4 or U6/U7 (exit at “Bockenheimer Warte”; seemap and “How to get to the 9IKC).

The Bockenheimer Depot was built in 1900 and served as the main maintenance station for the city of Frankfurt trams. The remarkable wooden roof construction, a 12 meter high semi circular arch, relates to the French Renaissance-builder Philibert Delorme. After the Second World War the hall became too small to serve as the main maintenance building.

In 1966 it was closed and became one of the first listed industrial buildings in the Rhein-Main region. Since 1987, after a big fire in the opera house of Frankfurt, the building has been used as a theatre space. Nowadays it is used for special events, exhibitions, concerts and is the home of the world famous modern dance group „The Forsythe Company“.
