The 9IKC Apple Wine Party

This event is sponsored by BHP Billiton Diamonds Inc., Vancouver, Canada.

Apple wine is the most traditional drink in Frankfurt. The inhabitants of Frankfurt are fond of their numerous kinds of apple wine and traditional apple wine houses which can be found all over the city, especially in Sachsenhausen and Bornheim. The 9IKC apple wine party will start at 19.30 hrs at the apple wine garden restaurant „Zur Sonne“, a typical Frankfurt apple wine pub. It is located in Bornheim, which was first mentioned in 1194 a.d. and became a part of Frankfurt in 1877.

„Bernem“ as the locals call it, was always considered the „merry village “ (das "lustige Dorf"), well known for it’s pubs, dancing and prostituion. Popular even today is the „Bornheimer Kerb“, a local village fair celebrated each year in August since 1608. The most lively part of Bornheim is Berger Strasse, a street which stretches from the inner city due north up to Bornheim (approx. 6 km). Restaurants, shops and pubs of all kinds make it interesting to stroll up the street. The northern end of Berger Strasse is, along with Sachsenhausen, a stronghold of apple wine in Frankfurt.

Address: Gasthof „Zur Sonne“, Berger Str. 312, 60385 Frankfurt am Main
